About the Advisors
Dr. Simona Vrabcova, PhD
International Higher Education Advisor • University Lecturer
Dr. Simona Vrabcová was born in Slovakia and completed her higher education in the United Kingdom, where she lived for a decade. After earning her PhD at the University of Warwick, she taught at several UK universities, supporting students as they developed their academic skills and confidence. Her journey in international advising began at a major Central European counselling centre, where she guided hundreds of students through programme selection, university applications, and preparation for studying abroad.

As a British Council Certified Higher Education Counsellor, Dr. Vrabcova works with students and families to navigate their pathways into UK and European universities. She takes a personal approach, guiding students through the process of choosing the best course and university to match their strengths, goals, and future career aspirations. By combining practical admissions expertise with real international experience, she offers clear, tailored, and supportive guidance to help students make confident decisions about their educational future
Dr. Zuzana Palovic, PhD
Global Mobility Expert • Founder of Global Slovakia
Dr. Zuzana Palovic is a dual citizen, born in Slovakia and raised in Canada and the United States — a background that gave her a naturally global outlook from a young age. After completing her bachelor’s degree in the United States, she returned to Europe to pursue her Master’s studies in the Netherlands, followed by a fully funded PhD in International Migration in the United Kingdom.

As a global mobility expert and author of six books, Dr. Palovic supports internationally minded families in navigating education pathways, relocation decisions, and cross-border transitions. Through her consulting work, she combines professional expertise with real international experience, offering clear, practical, and culturally informed guidance to help families move forward with confidence.
Our Origins: From Heritage to Higher Education
NextStep Europe grew out of Global Slovakia’s work with Slovak descendants seeking to reconnect with their European roots — many wishing to study, live, or build a future on the continent. What began as a service for the Slovak diaspora has expanded into a full advisory program for all families and students ready to take a leap and pursue European university excellence.
Today, NextStep Europe offers the practical, hands-on guidance that makes pursuing life in Europe through international study both accessible and achievable.
