Bought this for my Slovak-descendant wife. She loves it! Since it’s bilingual book she is able to practice her Slovak in a more interesting and realistic way.
Also, I got it for my nieces to learn about their culture. The art work and stories are great for kids to learn little known history.

This is such a great book. It introduces you to fifty Slovak women and men who have contributed something amazing to the world. Slovakia may be a small country, but it has produced people who have left an undeniable mark on the globe. It's about time they get more recognition for their efforts! Great illustrations of each person as well. And you can even practice your Slovak since each story is written in both Slovak and English. :) I highly recommend this book to everyone!"

"Super Slovaks - A super read!
Super Slovaks is a beautifully illustrated walk through Slovak history, introducing readers of all ages to the nation's heroes in a digestible, easy to read way. When I picked up Super Slovaks on a long haul flight, I couldn’t put the book down until I had finished (the English part, at least!).
As an American living in Slovakia, I had previously heard many of the names that appeared in the book, since a number of these heroes have statues, streets and parks named in their honor. What I didn’t know, however, was why these men and women were so significant, and what they had done to help shape the Slovakia we know today. I even found that one of the heroes was born in my great-grandma’s small village in northwestern Slovakia. How cool!
I personally recommend this book to anyone who is interested in knowing more about Slovak history, and the figures that marked it. I loved the beautiful illustrations and appreciated the accessible language in which it was written. Super Slovaks is not at all a pretentious or stuffy history book, and makes a great read for teens and adults alike.
Finally, as it is a bilingual text, I also recommend Super Slovaks as an invaluable resource for Slovak language learners, who can use this book to help deepen their knowledge of the language in a fun, authentic way.
