Birthing the Slovak language & identity

We have the pleasure and honor to introduce Professor John Palka, grandson of  Czechoslovak Prime Minister Milan Hodža. Many generations of John Palka's family dedicated their lives to the Slovak cause - from shaping its identity and culture to designing its politics. A pillar of the Slovak National Awakening, the family wrote itself into history thanks to its significant contribution to the formation of the Slovak language and identity. Like Slovakia, it had to face many hardships and struggles. Yet, faith and resilience prevailed and it was also thanks to this family that Slovakia eventually emerged as an independent country.
