Light a Candle
for Your Ancestor

This All Saints’ season, we invite you to bridge the ocean and the generations that separate you from your Slovak ancestors.

Let us light a candle in their name, in the land they once called home, and keep their memory alive.

Imagine a small candle flickering in a peaceful Slovak cemetery, its light shining in memory of someone who left their homeland generations ago. Someone whose courage and dreams helped shape your family's story.

This All Saints’ season, we invite you to bridge the ocean and the generations that separate you from your Slovak ancestors.

Let us light a candle in their name, in the land they once called home, and keep their memory alive.

Whether you wish to remember a grandparent you knew and loved, a great-grandparent who crossed the ocean, or an ancestor whose story you are only beginning to discover, this simple gesture is a meaningful way to keep their memory alive.

Each candle will bear a personalized label with your ancestor's name, honoring their memory with love and respect.

How It Works

Honoring your Slovak ancestors is simple. You choose whom to remember, and we take care of the rest.

1. Choose your candles. Purchase as many candles as you wish, whether you want to honor one special ancestor or several generations of your family. A symbolic price chosen to mark November 1, All Saints’ Day, and the beginning of this special season of remembrance.

2. Personalize each candle. At checkout, provide the name of the ancestor you wish to honor. Each candle will bear a personalized label with one ancestor’s name.

3. We light the candles for you in Slovakia. On All Saints’ Day or All Souls’ Day, we will light all the candles in remembrance of our ancestors and send you a photograph of the beautiful display of candlelight.

Where Will Your Candle Be Lit?

Your candle will be placed at the central cross of a peaceful cemetery in Šaštín, home to Slovakia's most important Marian pilgrimage site, visited by both Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis.

In Slovak cemeteries, the central cross holds a special significance. It is a place where people light candles for loved ones whose graves they cannot visit, or whose final resting places are unknown.

The candle becomes a symbolic light of remembrance, reaching beyond the distance and generations that separate us from those who came before us.

Even if you do not know where your ancestors are buried, their memory can still be honored in the land they once called home.
