People have been seeking symbols to express their identity, hopes, aspirations, and culture since time immemorial. The idea of nations and countries is built around symbolism.  Slovakia is no different. Since the first glimpses of the Slovak National Awakening, certain emblems, symbols, and imagery have shaped its identity.
